I have a 17 year old child who watches too much TikTok. Every summer we kayak 10 miles across a reservoir and plant a ⚑ on Streeter Island in VT. These pictures are from our maiden voyage. On the way back the sun went down while we were on the water. A cloudy night made it pitch black. With miles to go we could barley see which way to paddle but the bats divebombing insects off the water’s surface, were clear as day. When we returned and pulled our kayaks ashore, we noticed a warning sign for whirlpools and dangerous winds. Right then we swore to make it a tradition. Dad’s can do some dumb things to provide experience, but I wouldn’t trade this moment for the world.
